HOW WE CARE FOR OUR CHIN
Seniors
As our chin age we continue to care for them as described on our Adult Care page.

Seniors do require a little more care, so we have outlined below a few additional health care measures that we do.
PLEASE NOTE
We share how we care for our chin for information only.  We are not veterinarians and recognize that each chin is an individual, what works for one may not work for all. If your chin is ill - take them to a veterinarian for care!

ANNUAL VETERINARY EXAM
Senior blood panel - We add blood work to our seniors annual veterinary appointments.

BODY CONDITION
Weight - As our seniors are spayed/neutered, we do need to watch their weight a little closer and adjust their meals and treats accordingly to maintain an ideal body condition. Some will gain weight just by looking at food which stresses their little bodies. Others may become fussy eaters and extra care is required at meal time.

GROOMING
Sensitivity - Seniors become sensitive to grooming so we are careful to use soft brushes and go slow, keeping them comfortable. Nail sensitivity can be reduced by trimming nails following a bath when they are soft.

Noses - Their noses tend to be a little dryer so we will apply nose balm more frequently.

DIET & NUTRITION
Our seniors continue to eat Back 2 Raw as described on our Adult Care page. One of the nice things about this food is that it is soft and easily eaten by seniors who have fewer teeth. As they age we may split their meals into 3 times a day if they prefer. We also use the following supplements on a rotational basis to provide additional support for their overall wellness.

HEART HEALTH
CoQ10 (100mg/day) - CoQ10 has been shown to improve symptoms of congestive heart failure. It may also help reduce blood pressure. The best value we have found is at Costco, their Kirkland Signature brand.

DIGESTIVE SUPPORT
Love Bugs

IMMUNE SUPPORT

LIVER SUPPORT
Liver Tonic by Adored Beast - supports the health of the liver by helping regenerate healthy liver cells and boosting the organ’s ability to filter toxins from the blood. It also helps support, detox, and repair liver, kidney, pancreas, and gallbladder function.

BLADDER SUPPORT
